The Spindel Lab

From organisms to ecosystems

Our lab investigates how ecological interactions, organismal physiology, and environmental change shape the structure, function, and resilience of coastal marine ecosystems. We combine field experiments, long-term monitoring, controlled laboratory studies, biochemical tracers, and quantitative modeling to understand the processes that govern subtidal food webs. By integrating basic and applied science, we aim to generate knowledge that advances ecological theory while informing conservation, restoration, fisheries management, and climate adaptation.
