From Urchin Barrens to Trophic Recovery: Two New Studies on Kelp Forest Resilience
I’m excited to share two complementary studies examining why sea urchin barrens can persist and how targeted restoration can restart the flow of energy through degraded kelp forest ecosystems. In Ecological Applications, we show that red sea urchins are remarkably resilient to food limitation.
